The Utah Department of Public Safety (DPS) invites you to the 2024 Utah Public Safety Summit. The conference was designed with public safety professionals in mind and focuses on leadership, educational experiences, critical thinking opportunities, and best practices.

Conference topics include: forensic case studies, sessions on leadership and peer support, lessons learned from recent events, partnerships in communities, traffic safety, drug trends, emergency management, law enforcement, fire, and other public safety topics.

You’ll leave this two-day conference with valuable information and lessons from peers who represent organizations across the country. DPS is proud to serve the state in more ways than one. From patrolling highways to preparing Utahns for emergency situations, the department is honored to host this conference to further prepare our public safety professionals in our great state.

Hotel reservations are the responsibility of the attendee; please visit the conference website for hotel block information. Breakfast will not be served; however, lunch will be provided on both days.

Human Trafficking, Hacking, and Purchasing Prostitution: What We Can Learn from 2023’s Largest Percent Growth Crimes

This session is designed to explain basic crime data analysis using the public-facing BCI dashboard.  We will walk through pulling, analyzing, and contextualizing data to discuss trends with the largest percent increase in crimes against Persons (Human Trafficking for Commercial Sex Acts), Property (Hacking), and Society (Purchasing Prostitution).  Whether you are not a numbers person or a data whiz, this course will provide useful considerations for analyzing crime trends and data.
